Salt Production from Lake Waters in Turkey

Salt production is carried out by solar evaporation method from the Yavşan, Kaldırım and Kayacık salts around the Salt Lake. The water on the surface of the lake decreases gradually due to the effect of wind and temperature, and when the salt water bome reaches 25°, the salt starts crystallizing on the basin. This crystallization occurs either on the pre-formed partially melted salt crusts or directly on the soil and reaches a thickness of 6-10 cm depending on the climatic conditions. The lake has an area of 1665 km2.
